Dronacharya Award 2012

Wrestling coach Yashvir Singh, Boxing Coach BI Fernandez, Athletics Coach Virender Poonia, Kabaddi Coach Sunil Davas, Parathletics Coach Dr. Satyapaul and Hockey Coach Harinder Singh are recommended for Dronacharya Award 2012. Dronacharya Award is given to those coaching personalities who excel in coaching different sports.  Boxing Coach BI Fernandez who is a Cuban national is the first foreign person to be recommended for this award.The awards will be presented on August 29, National Sports Day. The award consists of five lakh rupees and a citation.

Australian Govt nod for GVK's $10 bn coal project

GVK Group’s $10 billion Alpha Coal project in Queensland gets green signal from Australian Govt. The approval is to construct and operate the Alpha Coal Mine and a railway line between the mine and the port at Abbot Point, near Bowen. Last year GVK acquired majority stake in Alpha Coal and Alpha West projects and a 100 per cent stake in the Kevin’s Corner project in Queensland. When these projects start full fledged working it will become one of the worlds largest coal blocks.
