Union budget on March 16

Traditionally the budget is unveiled on the last day of February. It has been delayed by the assembly election in five states(Manipur, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Goa).  Railway budget is on March 14th and Economic survey(The Finance Ministry presents the Economic Survey in the parliament every year, just before the Union Budget. It is the ministry's view on the annual economic development of the country) is on 15th.

Maldives president Mohamed Nasheed quits


Maldives President Mohamed Nasheed of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) on Tuesday announced his resignation on television. The declaration came after the police and the army were involved in clashes in streets of the island nation amid protest over the arrest of a top judge. Vice President Dr. Waheed will hold the reigns till a new arrangement is made. The SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) summit 2011 was held in Addu, Maldives in November last.
